Protolabs Doubles Down on Axtra3D’s Lumia X1
July 22, 2025, Charlotte, NC – Axtra3D proudly announces the successful installation of a second Lumia X1 3D printer at Protolabs, a global leader in digital manufacturing. The expansion comes within nine months of Protolabs adopting their first Lumia X1 system, marking a rapid and strategic scaling of their advanced photopolymer capabilities in response to growing customer demand.

Protolabs leverages the Lumia X1 platform primarily for ceramic mold inserts, prototyping and production end use parts, and fire-retardant applications that benefit from the machine’s precision, surface quality, dimensional accuracy, and throughput. The decision to bring on a second unit demonstrates Protolabs’ confidence in the Lumia X1’s repeatability and the strategic value it brings to their additive production capabilities.
