Five years of execution, ecosystem development, and global expansion position Axtra3D as a trusted partner for low-volume production and a bridge to traditional manufacturing
April 14, 2026, Charlotte, NC – Axtra3D, a leader in Hi-Speed SLA 3D printing, today announced its 5-year anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its journey as a production-focused additive manufacturing company.
We sincerely thank our customers and partners for their continued support and trust in our company. Their collaboration has been fundamental to everything we have achieved.
Co-founded by Gianni Zitelli and Praveen Tummala, Axtra3D was built with a clear vision from day one: to enable low-volume production and create a true bridge between additive manufacturing and traditional manufacturing.
This year’s RAPID + TCT event has special significance for Axtra3D, as it reflects five years of focused execution towards that vision. From the beginning, the company has remained committed to delivering production-ready solutions that emphasize reliability, repeatability, and real-world application performance.
“Our vision from the start was to build a global, production-focused additive manufacturing company,” said Gianni Zitelli, Co-Founder and CEO at Axtra3D. “We made a clear choice from the beginning to develop technologies designed for industrial production. This guides both our solutions, which are engineered for reliability, repeatability, and economic sustainability, and the way we build and manage the company.
We believe the true value of AM emerges in production environments. For this reason, our growth is directly tied to that of our customers. In a sector often shaped by excessive expectations, we have chosen to avoid overhype and focus on tangible, lasting results. It is a model that requires discipline, long-term vision, and a constant commitment to industrial value.
At Axtra, we do not measure success by how fast we grow, but by how solidly we contribute to the manufacturing transformation of our customers.”
Axtra3D’s foundation is rooted in its breakthrough Hybrid PhotoSynthesis (HPS) technology, further enhanced by TruLayer separation technology. The company invested its first 2.5 years in developing and validating this core technology and launching the flagship Lumia.X1 Hi-Speed SLA system. This was followed by 2.5 years of commercialization, scaling a global business centered on synergetic partnerships enabling production-grade applications.
With the continued support of its investors, including HZG via their Series A funding, Axtra3D has been able to accelerate its roadmap, expand globally, and build a strong ecosystem of partners and customers aligned with its mission.
Praveen Tummala, COO of Axtra3D, states, “One of our core tenets has been disciplined financial stewardship. We focus on long-term planning and scale our infrastructure deliberately in step with operational growth. Our commitment is to remain a financially responsible company.”
A defining element of Axtra3D’s strategy has been its robust and expanding material ecosystem, developed in close collaboration with leading partners. Combined with its dual business models, Axtra Solutions™ and Axtra OpenAccess™, the company provides customers with both fully validated production workflows and the flexibility to innovate with new materials and applications.
“Our business model has always been centered around the customer,” said Rajeev Kulkarni, Chief Strategy Officer at Axtra3D. “By focusing on complete solutions, enabling customer flexibility through Axtra Solutions™ and Axtra OpenAccess™, and building a strong software and material ecosystem with partners, we provide an ideal mix for customers to adopt and scale additive manufacturing in production environments.”
5-Year Milestones and Key Metrics:
- Global Expansion: Established a growing presence across the U.S., Europe, and Japan
- Facility Growth: Dual facilities in US and EU and planning to open a new, expanded EU facility in June 2026 to support scaling operations
- Global Company: Built a truly international team and customer base
- Customer Loyalty: Achieved 55%+ repeat customer rate, driven by business models and system reliability to support their success
- Operational Performance: Average capacity utilization and uptime exceeding 85%
- Install Base Expansion: Average annual install base growth of 41%
- Reliability Benchmark: Production-ready system reliability with minimal service intervention.
- Application Depth: Development of 25+ validated production solutions across industrial and healthcare verticals
- Revenue Growth: Sustained 41%+ year-over-year growth since commercialization
Central to this progress is the Axtra Workflow™, an integrated approach that connects hardware, materials, and software into a seamless production environment. This includes:
- Lumia X1 Hi-Speed SLA system powered by HPS and TruLayer
- Axtra.Wash and Axtra.Cure for validated post-processing
- Axtra.Insight for process validation, monitoring, and workflow optimization
Together, these components address one of the most critical gaps in additive manufacturing. The lack of fully connected and validated workflows for repeatable, scalable production. By delivering an end-to-end solution, Axtra3D enables customers to confidently deploy additive manufacturing for low-volume production use cases.
Axtra3D continues to expand its global footprint, strengthen its partner ecosystem, and invest in technologies that enable high-performance, application-specific manufacturing at scale.
About Axtra3D
Based in the US and Italy, Axtra3D is a global company specializing in Hi-Speed SLA systems that eliminates tradeoffs between print throughput, accuracy, feature resolution, and surface finish, typically found in traditional SLA or DLP systems.
The flagship Lumia X1 Hi-Speed SLA system by Axtra3D represents a significant advancement, combining its Hybrid PhotoSynthesis resin polymerization process with TruLayer, a layer separation technology. HPS utilizes both a laser and a DLP to image simultaneously, while TruLayer enables rapid detachment of the active print layer, resulting in a 20X throughput improvement while preserving the accuracy and fidelity of SLA parts.
Axtra3D operates with two business models.
Axtra Solutions™: This model provides fully optimized, turnkey 3D printing solutions. Customers receive complete print profiles fine-tuned for maximum performance and reliability, supported by Axtra3D’s Applications team and quality material partners.
Axtra OpenAccess™: This model further builds on Axtra Solutions™ and allows customers the flexibility to experiment with new materials and applications. It supports innovation and adaptability, enabling added flexibility.
